PARAPROFESSIONAL
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of assigned supervisor assist the certified teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students, monitor and report student progress.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job description may include but is not limited to the following tasks:
- Works with small groups of student to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
- Prepares for classroom activities under the supervision of a certified teacher.
- Assists individual children in need of special attention by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
- Performs clerical duties as requested by the teacher or principal.
- Guides independent, enrichment and remedial work prescribed by the teacher.
- Sets up and operate audiovisual equipment.
- Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties and routines.
- Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing, groups, make-up work as requested by teacher.
- Monitor and report behavior of students according to approved procedures, report progress regarding students’ performance and behavior.
- Assists in drill work, reading and storytelling.
- Assists small groups of students in the media center or other settings.
- Assists in monitoring playground and lunchroom activities as assigned.
- Assure the health and safety of students by following the health and safety practices and regulations as outlined in the school program under which employed.
- Performs related duties as requested by the teacher or principal.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
The paraprofessional aide shall hold one of the following:
- Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in Early Childhood Development.
- Valid credentials as required by the Arkansas Department of Education.
- Acceptable score on ParaPro Assessment as defined by the ADE.
- Child Development Associate credential.
- Such alternatives as the Board shall find appropriate and acceptable.
